Our pack-out of our house in Virginia took less time than we planned for.
We were told that it would take four days to pack everything up and load it to be moved to SC. It was all packed up in two.
This sounds like a good thing, but because we didn’t plan on having a hotel for two extra days, the packing company agreed to let us keep our beds in the house until the fourth day and they sent packers over to get just our beds and bedding.
That meant that we had two extra days of living in a completely empty house.
We also didn’t have child care for our four children during the move. We had to be a little extra creative in how we spent our time to keep them all relatively happy and entertained.
Here’s a look at some of the things we did as we moved out…
Before the outside toys were packed up (or thrown out) there was lots to do outside.
Jenny had a blast playing with her water table on the deck.
We cranked up the bubble machine and I pulled out my jar of homemade bubbles from last summer. The kids loved popping the bubbles as they danced about.
The sand box was another hit for outside toy. We didn’t move our sandbox to SC, but I’m sure this is a purchase we’ll be making soon.
Before the homeschool area was packed up, we read lots and lots of picture books!
Thanks to my Amazon Prime membership we were able to watch movies on my laptop…that is until the cable was turned off.
And then we were left with coloring in the completely empty rooms.
There was also lots of rolling around the floor and wrestling.
Our babysitter came over on our last night in our Virginia home and Keith and I were able to go out on one last date night before the move. We’re all going to miss Hannah so very much!
We ate our last breakfast in the dining room on the bare hardwood floor.
And our last lunch in our home was spent outside on the deck.
This was right before we moved into a hotel room. Little did we know we would spend the next two weeks in a hotel before moving into our new home.
