Hello, friends!!!
It has been so long that I have a ton to catch up on here. I’m going to just jump right in and do the best I can. Here’s a little update “Five on Friday” style.
//one// Yoga Teacher Training
Shortly after moving to Germany, I enrolled in an online 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training course through My Vinyasa Practice. I plan to complete my training by the end of the year and will register with Yoga Alliance. I hope that I will be teaching yoga classes at the fitness center on post here in Wiesbaden in the new year.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity that I am both thrilled and super nervous about. I am also very thankful that Yoga Alliance has made online training available during this time.
//two// Wiesbaden Community Spouses Club
Getting connected with a new community and finding friends is a challenge with each PCS. I knew coming here that I wanted to get plugged in with the spouses’ club as soon as I could because it is one of the best ways to make fast friends. Shortly after joining the Wiesbaden Community Spouses Club I agreed to lead the book club this year. I am so excited about being involved with reading and readers in this way!
The spouses club meets for a luncheon as a large group once a month in addition to having various activities throughout the month. We had our first luncheon this week and, being in Germany, there was an Octoberfest theme, with many dressing up in traditional German costumes and dresses. During the luncheon, I found out that I was named Volunteer of the Month for the month of October. What a fun surprise!!!
//three// 2021-2022 Homeschool Year
We officially started our 2021-2022 Homeschool Year last week. Our first day was actually on Labor Day so that Keith could be around for the festivities!
So far it has been a great year! EA and MC are in 11th grade, Will in the 9th grade, and Jenny is in the 6th grade this year. I am finally seeing so much of my hard work from the earlier school years paying off now that my kids are older. They are great independent learners and I love seeing them grow in their love for learning.
//four// Haircut
I went in for my first hair appointment since moving to Germany yesterday. It was long overdue! So that I could get an appointment this week, I skipped out on color and just scheduled a haircut. So next time I will definitely be overdue for color. Ha…what a never ending circle!
I went to a salon that was in walking distance of our home. Everyone at the salon spoke great English. I feel like I really lucked out with finding this salon. I have so much hair, though, that I felt bad for the stylist…she had to work so hard to tame this head of hair! At one point she exclaimed, “This is CRAZY! There is so much hair!” I wasn’t quite sure how to respond except to say, “Sorry!! You’re doing a great job, though!”
//five// Lula Rich
Like many others, I have been obsessed with watching LuLaRich, the documentary of the Multi-Level Marketing company LuLa Roe this week. I bought quite a few pairs of leggings from this company several years ago and remember not understanding all the hype surrounding them. It was fascinating to do a deep five into the company although I feel so bad for the people that got mixed up in the middle of the toxicity of that culture.
Hopefully, I’ll be back here next week for another update! In the meantime, have a great weekend!!
