This is how I can be totally open to this new year.
When I stop and think about what could happen in any given year, month, week, or even day, my thoughts can quickly turn to worry and anxiety, filled with trembling at all that the challenges they may bring.
But that is not God’s desire for me.
He asks me to depend on Him…to trust Him to take care of my every need.
He promises that if I seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, then all these things will be added to me.
What things?
All of my physical needs…what I will eat, drink, and wear (Matt. 6:31). They will all be provided by my loving Father if I just seek Him first.
And if he’s going to provide for all of my physical needs, I believe that he will provide for all else that I need.
If I will only seek Him first.
So, as we approach a new year we do not need to be anxious about tomorrow.
We can live in complete trust and dependence on God, open to all that he has for us in the new year that is beginning today.
My prayer for myself and for you in 2012 is that we will not be anxious, but that we will first seek His kingdom and His righteousness.
Happy New Year!

I always try to remember that. We had a wonderful sermon on it about 2 weeks ago and it’s something that is so hard for us to do, but our faith can really shine through when we have complete reliability in God. Thank you for such a refreshing post this morning. I’ve been following for awhile and promised myself to not be a blog lurker this year, but be involved and encourage others as they encourage me.

Thank you so much for coming out of hiding :). I’m really trying to be more involved with encouraging others by commenting and replying to comments this year, too!

Monica, this blog post is so refreshing – a beautiful reminder of how we should approach life. I’m glad that I found you here; I’ll definitely be adding your blog to my reader and visiting with you as often as you post 🙂 We have a few things in common – my hubby is also in the Army and we also live in Virginia! Have a wonderful 2012!

YAY Monica! Thank you for your inspiring message–I needed it, given that I am *such* a controller, determined to do things my way. I do have some projects I want to do, but I’m keeping myself flexible because inevitably the universe will remind me that not everything needs to be planned perfectly 🙂
(fyi, I LOVE your hair! Gorgeous!)
