Happy International Women’s Day!!!
International Women’s Day, celebrated on March 8, is a global day of celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.
Last year, I celebrated International Women’s Day in Salzburg, Austria, helping to host a special dinner for refugee women. I spent the day and evening worshipping with women from many other cultures and backgrounds, singing and dancing together with joy! It is a day that will live in my heart and my most special memories.
This year, I am praying for women around the globe who have sacrificed so much throughout this year of pandemic, filled with heartache and resolve. Women have felt the effects of COVID-19 in dramatic ways.
The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is #choosetochallenge. For it is from challenge that change comes.
I have been challenged throughout this year.
I am challenged today.
I am challenged to celebrate the achievements of women.
I am challenged to fight for equality for all women.
I am challenged refuse to allow myself, my daughters and other women in my life to be silenced and side-lined.
I am challenged to cheer on the women in my life.
I am challenged to support, encourage and honor women as they fill so many roles in their communities, homes, schools churches and businesses.
On this International Women’s Day, take a moment to celebrate and honor the women in your life.
