Have I mentioned that I am super excited that June is here? No??? Well, just in case you missed it, I am SUPER EXCITED that June is here!
June is a month that holds a lot of promise for us this year. It’s our last full month of being apart from Keith.
We skyped with Keith tonight and realized that we only have four weekly Skype video calls left. That seems like such a significant marker of how quickly this is all coming to an end.
All year long I have made goals and have lost steam soon after making them. That’s not like me…or at least, I don’t want that to be like me. Achiever is among my top five Strength Finder strengths. This means that I get a lot of satisfaction out of being productive and achieving my goals. Not achieving them has been discouraging for me this year.
I didn’t achieve them because I let life overwhelm me and everything became capital letter H-A-R-D over the last year with Keith away.
I feel that with the beginning of a new month, I’m ready for a new start.
I’m setting goals for June that I am looking forward to achieving. I am really hoping that sharing them with you will help, too!
I have learned that the first step in setting achievable goals is to start out with an attainable number of goals. I’m only going to focus on my top THREE goals this month. Sure there are more things that I want to do, but these three will be my main focus.
1. Soak up time with friends
Our time in Kansas is drawing to an end and while I am SO excited to welcome Keith home and move to El Paso, I am also sad to leave my friends here. I have been blessed beyond words with neighbors and friends that I love and I want to soak up as much time with them as possible over the next month.
There are two things that I want to do in this life…love God and love people. I want to love my Leavenworth, Kansas people well right until the very end.
2. Prepare for our move
I have approximately five weeks to prepare for my house to be invaded by packers who will put everything into boxes to be shipped to Texas. Yikes!!!
There’s lots of work to do to get ready for that. I really want to go into our new home in El Paso lighter and more organized. I plan to go room by room and drawer by drawer in order to prepare for this move. I’ve already started with some cleaning out this week and it feels so very good to feel like I’m doing something to move this whole process forward. Each bag of trash that’s thrown out and every load that’s taken out to donate makes my heart just a little bit lighter.
3. Blog daily
I’ve been reminded several times this week how much I love coming here to write and share my thoughts with you all! I love reading comments and connecting with every single one of you.
Blogging has been a struggle this year. It has been discouraging, but every time I think about giving up I am reminded that I truly love this!
I don’t think blogs have to be fancy and I have no aspirations of “keeping up with the Jonses” in the blogging world. I think simple story sharing is still useful and encouraging.
We’ve got a lot going on over the next couple of months and I am committed to sharing it with you!
