So this is the last post in my “Make Sure They Feel Loved” series.
And today I would like to talk about one of the most important ways that we can make our children feel loved.
And that is to Spend! Spend, spend, spend!
Spend what you may ask….
Well, no, I’m not talking about spending money. But I am talking about spending something even more precious and needed than money.
I do want to speak to you today about spending….time with your children. Spending time TOGETHER with them.
There is no substitute for spending time with your children.
Just because you are at home with them doesn’t necessarily mean that you are spending time with them. It takes intentionality weather you’re physically at home with your children all the time or if you’re a working parent. It even takes intentionality weather you homeschool or schooling outside the home.
Basically, what I’m trying to say is that just because you’re in the same place at the same time as your children doesn’t necessarily mean that you are spending time with them.
We can intentionally spend time with our children in two ways…
First by doing ordinary things from day to day.
Things like…
- eating together
- working (kids actually enjoy doing chores and house work when you do it with them!)
- walking
- praying
- driving (I am learning to talk more during our car drives)
- shopping.
I went to the commissary to get groceries with my three little ones this morning and it was actually an enjoyable experience. MC is excited about learning her numbers and each time we turned on to a new aisle, the would point out the number. “Hey, Mommy….that’s a 3!”
It is imperative that we take advantage of the daily moments the we have with our children.
Secondly, we can spend time by making memories by doing extra-ordinary things.
Things like…
- visiting a zoo
- going to an amusement park
- playing board games
- attending a ball game
- going on picnics
- camping
- visiting a museum
and so many more!
Spending time with our children in both of these ways, creates precious memories that you and they will cherish forever.
They will cherish them because they will know that in those times, they felt loved by you!
Take the time today to incorporate each of these suggestions into your life, into your home, as you strive to make sure that your children feel loved!

How true is that. I have had some extremely good conversations with my kids during drives – Graeme began his questions about trusting in Jesus while we were driving, etc.

This has been an excellent series of posts. Thanks for taking the time to encourage us all to be better moms and to better show our children we love them!
