In studying “Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours” for the parenting class I’m teaching, I came across a list of practical ways to make children feel loved.
This list was originally given by Larry Tomcak in the book, “God, the Rod, and Your Child’s Bod.”
Now, I have not read this book, but I do agree with the suggestions for making your children feel loved. I think it is of great importance that in all things we do with our children where discipline is concerned, that they always know that we love them….UNCONDITIONALLY.
These steps are:
1. Make sure you see your children as God sees them.
2. Cultivate a childlike attitude.
3. Give your children direct eye contact.
4. Physically express your love.
5. Train yourself to be a good listener.
6. spend…time together.
I’m going to use these six steps to write my first Blog Series. Over the next six days, I will write a post addressing each of these steps. So, if at all possible, please plan to stop in over the next week and learn some practical ways that you can make sure your children feel loved.
Tomorrow I will be writing about why and how you should make sure you, as a parent, see your children as God sees them.
See you then!
