One of my favorite things about our bedroom (okay, my only favorite things about our bedroom) is the vanity that is built into the wall. There is a nice mirror and eight small drawers for make-up or other necessities.
Today I went to the Vogelweh BX mainly because I was out of several of my make-up essentials. Our PX doesn’t carry anything except generic drug store type make-up, so I have to drive to an Air Force Base to buy my favorite Lancome make-up.
When I returned home, I noticed that my make-up drawer was in pretty pitiful shape.
Everything was just kind of thrown into one drawer. There were lots of things that were used and needed to be thrown out. So, I decided to tackle the project of cleaning it out and organizing.
I started out just wanting to get the make-up drawer done, but this quickly grew into organizing all of the drawers in the vanity. Now everything is so nice and neat…..just the way I like it.
I now have two make-up drawers. One drawer is for make-up drushes, foundation, lipstick, eyeliner, and mascara. The other drawer is for all the powerded make-up, like eye shadows, powder, blush, and bronzers.
I have one drawer in the vanity for all of my hair stuff….brushes, comb, ponytail holders, etc. There’s a drawer for fingernail clippers and polishes. Hopefully, this will save time on searching all over the house for clippers!
One drawer is dedicated for perfumes and lotions.
Two drawers are now housing make-up bags and small clutches.
And there is one drawer for playing cards. Yes, this is WAY out of place, but they fit perfectly! Keith and I love to play cards, specifically Canasta, and have a small collection of playing cards.
I lined the drawers with some cute Martha Stewart scrapbook paper I purchased today. I’m a little hesitant to use sticky contact paper in our housing and the scrapbook paper is so much cuter than any other contact paper around.
Now, doesn’t this look a bazillion times better??!!

Will you come organize my makeup now? LOL Your drawer liners are cute! I never would have thought to re-purpose my scrapbook paper like that. And it doesn’t surprise me in the least that you have to go to an AFB to get your makeup. Maybe because I live on a small Army post myself and rarely go to the PX for anything. Mainly because they usually don’t have what I’m looking for.

Cool! That gives me some ideas. I am set for my make-up. My mother made a sectioned basket for me to hold my stuff, but I have lots of other places that need organizing. Your plane has given me some ideas on how to get started.

Nicely done! Don’t ya love that feeling after you organize everything? Makes you wanna keep opening up those drawers and peeking inside. 🙂
I want to know how you keep the little hands out of those accessible drawers though.

you have to give me some makeup tips – I am so pathetic. I can never find foundation that I think matches/looks good and I have NO idea how to apply makeup. Since I hardly ever wear it I feel SO made up and overdone. I don’t know how to do a natural look so it enhances my appearance without looking like its a special event.
