Loose teeth have become quite the big deal around here.
One of EA’s top teeth has been loose for a while. We were afraid it would be ready to come out while we were visiting Grandma last week and hoping that it wouldn’t because we didn’t come prepared to pull tooth fairy duty.
You see, each of my girls have their own tooth fairy that brings a silver dollar in a personalized pillow box. Sometimes she even leaves a little note.
Mommy (aka me) and Daddy failed to bring silver dollars and crafting supplies to grandma’s house, so we avoided her tooth being pulled over the weekend.
She mentioned it to me once on Monday but said she wasn’t ready for it to be pulled, so I promptly forgot all about it.
Yesterday when the girls got into the truck after dance class, EA says, “Mommy, I think my tooth is ready to come out tonight.”
I replied with, “Okay, how about we pull it after dinner tonight?”
And she said, “Well, I think it needs to be before dinner.”
I argued that after would be better because it would be easier to eat. I always get grossed out by the little bit of blood that accompanies a tooth being pulled.
So, she persisted and said, “When put my tongue on top of my mouth, I feel that my tooth isn’t where it’s supposed to be.”
“WHAT do you mean!?” I asked and looked into the rearview mirror to see EA smiling at me with a hole where her tooth used to reside.
I had visions of going back into the dance studio and crawling around the floor to retrieve a missing tooth.
“EA, where is your tooth?” I asked her.
And she replied by opening her mouth to reveal a tiny little tooth sitting on top of her tongue.
Apparently, it fell out at the beginning of her dance class and she held it in her mouth the entire class.
I asked her why she didn’t tell me when she came out to change into her tap shoes and she said she was scared that when she opened her mouth that blood would come out of her mouth.
MC confirmed that she didn’t talk the whole time they were in ballet and tap, she didn’t even open her mouth at all!
Her tooth fairy was sure to leave a note commending her on her bravery for taking care of that tooth during dance class.
I’m just glad she didn’t choke on it!
I think this will go down in the books as one of our most memorable tooth fairy stories.

Funny you post this today – we had a tooth fairy “incident” last night…I blogged about it if you’re curious.
Our tooth fairy leaves a bit of fairy dust (glitter) behind and leaves a sparkly dollar bill or coin (whatever I can find on short notice). Sometimes she sneezes and gets glitter all over the room (I spilled). Once, she didn’t shed fairy dust but stickers (I couldn’t find the glitter).
My 4yo is so excited to lose his first tooth, as he’s seen our fairy visit his older brother a number of times. He’s constantly crying wolf and claiming his teeth are loose (which they’re not). He is cutting his five year molars. Maybe she’ll reward him for that effort…

That’s funny!!! I love the glitter…I wish I had thought of that!
My four year old (almost five) is doing the same thing with wanting a loose tooth. Poor thing is always wanting to fit in with his big sisters!

Oh my! I’m surprised she didn’t swallow it or something when she was talking to you about pulling it! That pillow box is seriously adorable!

Oh my goodness! That is a terrific memory, and quite a talent, too!
