Today is Military Spouse Appreciation Day!
It is a day to show appreciation for those who support their spouses as they serve the country.
I am incredibly proud to be a part of the community of military spouses.
I am honored to support my husband as he provides religious support to our country’s soldiers.
Being a military spouse demands sacrifice.
Last night I attended a Farewell with my husband for an officer who has been with his current unit here in El Paso for five years. His family is moving to Korea soon. In addition to thanking that officer for a job well done, for his leadership and for his sacrifices as well, his wife was thanked for the same things.
As a photo montage played at last night’s farewell, I noticed that his wife was by his side in almost every picture.
That’s what we do as military spouses…we stand by our soldier’s side.
We love them.
We support them.
We sacrifice and give in ways we never imagined we would.
I would like to share with you a poem that aptly describes military wives.
As PCS season is upon us. Many of my friends facebook status are full of preparations for yet another move. They are doing many of the things listed in the poem above. And they’ll do them again and again because they love their husbands. Because they are committed to him and his duty.
If you are a military spouse…THANK YOU.
Thank you for your support.
Thank you for your commitment.
Thank you for your leadership.
Thank you for your mentorship.
Thank you for your friendship.
And thank you for your sacrifices…they are many!
If you know a military spouse, if there is one in your community, church, neighborhood and/or family, please take a moment to thank them today.
