On Saturday we had friends over for an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Packing Party (wow…that’s a mouthful to write!).
As we were preparing for everyone to come over my husband and I reflected on how this was something that we have wanted to do for years but haven’t ever followed up on.
Good intentions don’t count for a whole lot unless you follow through with them.
Too often I let my insecurities about my home and homemaking abilities impede my willingness to serve and be hospitable with my friends and neighbors.
This is something that I really feel like I am making strides forward on and for that I am so thankful!
We had a fantastic time packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child with our friends this weekend!
We watched the new Veggie Tales movie Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas, enjoyed some light snacks and packed our boxes.
I also took a picture of each child with my Fuji Instax camera to include in their boxes along with a little “get to know me” questionaire.
We packed a total of eleven boxes and I turned them in to a local drop off location this morning.
This was such a wonderful way to begin the holiday season and it was made even more special by including friends!
If you didn’t get an opportunity to participate in packing a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child this year, remember that you can always build a shoebox online!!
