Each week in homeschool EA and MC have a memory verse to hopefully commit to memory by the end of the week.
I have to say that I was thankful for this week’s verse as it would give me an opportunity to discuss discipline with the girls and how it is necessary and for their good.
This week’s verse is
A father who punishes his son delights in him and makes him better.
Proverbs 3:12
On Monday when I introduced the verse, we talked about how when they have to be punished it is because Mommy and Daddy love them and want them to better, to be sweet girls.
We talked about how we don’t like to be punished but it is really for our own good.
On Tuesday night MC had to go into a time-out during our bedtime prayer.
She was being disrespectful during the prayer. And after being corrected, she continued being disrespectful.
She also likes to use prayer time as a way to prove points or to get a last word in for the day.
So, she was separated from this time, which is really one of the worse punishments for her.
After we finished praying and I tucked EA into bed, Keith went to talk to MC about her behavior. And then he prayed with her.
He asked her if she had something to say and, of course, she did.
In the most serious tone, she made one lone comment “I have been punished, just like in the Bible”.
It is my prayer that she does truly realize that her discipline and punishment are given out of love, delight even, and for one goal: to make her better.
Just like it says in the Bible verse that she is committing to memory.

How sweet to see her internalizing what she’s been learning.

this is a good one…The girls got into trouble at school for the first time yesterday. Alena was sad all evening because of it, Iva was the normal roving reporter and was full of details about the event (it was a group of 5 that screamed in the hallway)
