I’ve been a terrible blogger lately, because, well….we’ve all been sick.
And when my children are sick I have to drop everything to care for them. It takes all I have to maintain a house and care for three sick babies. It’s emotionally and physically draining, especially when I’m recovering myself.
Last week in telling you about my nervousness over my parenting class, I mentioned that I lost five pounds during the week. Well, it took my husband in Iraq telling me, “Monica, you’re sick”. For me to admit it….yes, I was sick. I had a nasty stomach bug that lingered for almost a week.
I don’t like being sick.
I don’t have time to be sick.
I often try to just ignore the impending sickness in hopes that it will just go away.
That’s what was happening last week.
My chat with Keith went something like this…
“I think I’m going to throw up…”
“Monica, you’re sick.”
“No, I’m not sick…I’m just nervous.”
“You never get nervous like this. You’re sick.”
“No, I’m not sick. I can’t be sick.”
“Monica, you’re sick.”
“No, I’m not sick. I don’t have time to be sick. I’m not sick.”
“Monica, you’re sick.”
“Okay, maybe I’m sick.”
Even after facing the facts about my own sickness, I held out hope that the rest of the household would stay well.
No such luck.
Will woke up with a terrible cough and runny nose on Saturday. He was absolutely pitiful all day Saturday and Sunday. I stayed home from church Sunday morning to nurse my sick baby.
Sunday afternoon, MC started showing signs of an impending cold. But with MC a cold is never just a cold. With MC, a cold entails much weeping and gnashing of teeth. The has been absolutely pitiful for the past three days.
This morning, EA woke up coughing too. She doesn’t seem to have it as bad as the other two have.
So….if you’re wondering where I’ve been, why I haven’t been sharing pictures, and what I’ve been up to….
I’ve been right here nursing three sick little ones.
No pictures have been taken.
And I’ve been watching movies and reading books with EA, MC, and Will in between giving medicine, wiping noses, cleaning, washing clothes, cooking meals, soothing cries, mediating fights, and attempting to sleep.
Notice I said attempting to sleep.
The good news is that we’re all on the upswing.
I’m sure I’ll have lots more happenings to post about and pictures to post in the near future.
Until then….please pray for us all!

Bless your heart! I hope everybody gets over their bugs quickly (and that includes you, Monica. Hey, Monica, you are sick!) . I’m thoroughly exhausted caring for one sick baby and myself and am always at awe of the work you are doing for your children. I hope when they are old enough to read this, they’ll give you a big hug and a thank you kiss everyday !

I hope that everyone is better soon. I think it is great that even though your hubby is miles away, he is so in touch with you that he knew you better than you knew yourself. Speaks volumes on your man!

My practical husband would say “Well, at least you’ll all be over it at once and might get a break for a few days until the next bug arrives.” His other classis is “I calculated that it takes about 21 days for a common cold to run through the entire house.” Thanks M, right? I do hope you are all feeing better soon. Our prayers are with you.

I’ve been praying since your first facebook status about Will being sick—- It’s so hard taking care of sick kids single-handedly! I will continue to pray! Hope your class goe well again today! 🙂
