I recently read on a friend’s photography blog that she has been doing some personal photography and journaling. It’s her goal to take a picture of something and write something each day.
I like this idea.
In fact, I like this idea so much that I am going to steal it!
A big part of the reason that I started DailyDwelling was to document our lives and share it with others.
I want to use it to dwell on the memories that are important, in a positive way.
I also love photography and editing pictures.
I’m not anywhere close to being overly talented in this area, but I want to grow and learn more.
So, as much as I can, it is going to be my goal to take a picture of our day and write about it. I’m going to be experimenting with photo editing and writing more creatively…or just journaling my thoughts about our day as I do so.
Today was a sick day in our house.
EA started feeling ill yesterday. She had a fever before bed last night and woke up feeling even worse.
I absolutely hate it when one of my children is sick. I feel terribly for them and just want to make it better.
EA spent the morning on the couch watching Sprout.
And she voluntarily went up to her bed during quiet time.
And went to sleep!
She was pitiful when I went to check on her.
To fully get the significance of this, you have to understand that she never takes a nap.
Never.
Ever.
It’s really just a bad cold that she has or maybe a viral infection, but nothing serious…she’s just such a pitiful sick girl, though!
Will on the other hand, did not sleep during quiet time today.
In fact, it has been quite a while since he has taken a nap during quiet time.
Believe me, I try, but you just can’t make someone sleep.
Each day this week, when quiet time is over, I have been met by this precious face at the door of his room.
The face of a little boy that is more than happy to open his bedroom door and welcome me into his room.
His disaster of a room, that is.
Oh, the joys of being a stay at home mom…I wouldn’t trade them for anything else in the world!

Jamie gave up sleeping, too. I finally just started letting him have books to read or a puzzle to do, in his room. Although, yesterday he actually fell asleep – and then was wide awake until several hours after bedtime. *sigh*

Yes, a MESSY room is the price you pay for quiet time. 🙂 We don’t have napper here anymore either, but when they spend 30 min+ in thier room quietly playing, without needing my refering, etc. EVERYTHING they own in out on the floor. With 2 kids sharing a room– that’s ALOT of stuff to pick up! 🙂 I think it’s WELL worth the price to have the quiet time, though. 🙂
I’ll be praying your sweety gets better soon!!!
On that note– please pray for Lilly– Jerry’s 87 yr old grandmother that we live with. She has caught a GI bug– pray it’s over SOON (she’s been sick with it since noon today) and that she doesn’t get dehydrated. THANKS friend!!!

EA does look so pathetic :(. I feel so bad for her. I, too hate when kids are sick because they seem to feel it so much worse and it just breaks your heart! I hope she is better very soon!!!
Love the look on Will’s face :). Too cute!
I really love the idea of journaling with a picture a day….very neat idea. Perhaps I will try that too! Thanks for the idea!

I just love reading your blog! 🙂
Poor EA – she must be feeling pretty yucky to volunteer for nap time!
And I love that smile on Will… I’ve seen similar ones around my house too when there’s a room full of “played with” toys!
I look forward to hearing/reading more of your stories and photos!

You are truly blessed… I had to work and would have loved to do these things with my son… I made the best of it and spent time with him when I was home…
As for the disaster of a room… my son was the same way..LOL… I wish I had taken a picture of it… but I will never forget what it looked like…
I came home from work one day to find my husband sitting at the kitchen table (it was his day off) shaking his head and smiling… he told me he had gone into Erik’s room and shook his head and said… Erik Erik Erik…. and realized it sounded familiar… he just remembered… he said it just like Felix had said it when going into Oscar’s room in the odd couple…. we laughed and laughed… a story retold for years

Poor EA . . . Annika was sick last week too, and I think a good majority of my pictures for the week were of her laying on a couch watching a movie and looking sad. I hope that your little girl feels better soon. I am glad that Will is happy though — even if he doesn’t sleep!

Poor baby 🙁 My daughter never naps either, so I totally understand that your daughter must be feeling pretty sick. I hope she feels better soon!
I’ve also seen a disaster room like that before! LOL!
