We had a great weekend! I didn’t realize how full it was until I started editing photos for this post.
Sometimes we don’t realize how incredibly blessed and full our lives are until we begin to look back.
That’s why memory keeping is so important to me. I want to remember the fullness of this life I’ve been blessed with when I look back days, weeks, months and even years later.
I have not always been the best at making time for Science in our homeschool. Well, honestly, I’ve been pretty bad at it! But my kids really enjoy Science, especially science experiments. We had a science experiment on Friday afternoon to demonstrate how black attracts heat after learning about polar bears having black skin under their white fur. This helps to keep them warm in the arctic they live in.
Keith took the girls with him to Kansas City to pick up his race packet for the Kansas City Half Marathon he ran in on Saturday. While there they stopped by the Crayola store. How fun is that for two little girls?!
While Keith was gone with the girls I had lots of time with Will and Jenny. They went with me to run errands at Wal-Mart and grocery shopping at the Commissary.
Funny story…while at the commissary (in the frozen food aisle) Will starts looking through the groceries in our cart and exclaiming, “Oooh, Mommy, you got Dinosaur Oatmeal…You got corn dogs…You got yogurt…THANK YOU MOMMY…THANK YOU FOR BUYING ALL THIS FOOD!!” An older lady in front of us turned around and just laughed at him. I smiled and said, “Your welcome, buddy.”
Will and Jenny are the best of friends. Their silly conversations make me laugh and appreciate them so much!
They each found their way into this pirate costume during the day.
All of my kids have gone through a stage where they are focused on putting on “shows” for the rest of the family. Jenny is in that stage right now and her brother and sisters are so sweet to play along with her. They put on a “singing show” on Friday evening. MC was the best sport of all being a “ghost” in the show with a white baby blanket over her head.
I have my treadmill set up in our garage here. I’ve been walking at least three miles every morning and trying to get in another walk in the evenings. I did my second walk on Friday evening while catching up on some Netflix shows. I’m working really hard to fit into a dress for an event this upcoming Saturday.
Now that cooler weather is upon us my evening routine usually includes drinking a cup of hot chocolate before bed.
Keith had a great race on Saturday morning! He called me shortly after crossing the finish line and sounded the best he’s ever sounded after finishing a half marathon. I’m so proud of him!!
We passed by a Kansas City Southern train on the way to church on Sunday morning and Keith took the opportunity to pull over and take a picture of it. The clouds and scenery set the perfect backdrop!
I’m so thankful for weekends to cherish my family and relax a bit from normal demands of our weekdays!
Did you do anything fun this weekend?
