For this year while Keith has been in Korea, the weekends have definitely been the hardest part of the week. It’s funny, because when he’s home weekend are something to really look forward to. Weekends meant extra family time. Now, weekends are dead space that endlessly stretches out.
I spent a good portion of my Saturday looking at the calendar, counting the days until Keith comes home, counting the days until our move begins, counting the days until we’re in El Paso, and wishing them all to pass more quickly while mourning all the things that I will miss when they do.
Here’s a glimpse of what our weekend looked like, apart from staring at the calendar.
We went to the Carousel Museum on Friday afternoon with our friends.
Will is not a fan of riding the carousel, so he sat out with me. I took advantage of the moment by getting a selfie with my boy.
Jenny does a fairly good job cleaning her room as long as I’m close by to supervise. I insisted that she clean under her bed on Friday evening.
I don’t have a single photo from Saturday because of the wasted day spent watching the calendar. *Sigh*
We’ve been doing our #sundaymorningselfies for well over a year now and you would think we’re pros at it. Ha! Nope…here Will and I are waiting on the girls to get in place.
There we go! I love those smiles on Sunday mornings!
It’s hard to sit through a sermon on marriage and a husband’s role on Father’s Day, but today as I sat there listening I was encouraged. I was encouraged because Keith is everything that a husband should be. He loves me so well. He is an excellent, loving father to our children. He is a wonderful spiritual leader in our home. I desire to grow in my own walk with the Lord by watching His.
I love quiet Sunday afternoons. Our street is still super quiet after this year’s CGSC students have moved out, but the houses haven’t been filled with new residents yet. The kids are enjoying having quiet streets to ride their bikes on.
I started a new book last night…The Sisters Chase by Sarah Healy. It was my Book of the Month pick for this month. I’m making my way through it fairly quickly, almost a fourth of the way through. I think I’ll read this one and another book from my anniversary gift before next month’s Book of the Month selection time.
As I was sitting outside chatting with a neighbor, we spotted a turtle making it’s way down the sidewalk in front of my house. He was surprisingly fast for a little turtle!
We had a grilled chicken salad for dinner tonight, followed by ice cream cones for dessert. Oh, how I love summer eating and dessert-ing!
I hope you had a fantastic weekend filled with family, friends and all the things you love the most!
