Happy Monday!
Sometimes, especially lately, the weekend hasn’t looked much different from the rest of the week. I still cherish our weekends as a time to rest and slow down even more from the normal pace of the week. Here’s a peek at our weekend…
On Saturday morning Keith and I went for a 4 mile walk and then after breakfast I had a 90 minute Sun Flow Yoga class. I was so intimidated by this class when I started yoga a year ago! Now it’s a standing thing I do every Saturday morning.
This weekend’s class was a much slower pace than we usually do in this class. It was more of a moderate class, but it was nice to take some time for slow stretches for a change.
I am currently reading Tarnscendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi and I have a ton of thoughts. There is a lot in this book to process and take in and the writing is beautiful. This is a book that I could fly through, but I’m making myself slow down and really enjoy it.
My kids love reading the comics from the Saturday paper. I loved capturing this photo of Jenny reading the comics on Saturday afternoon.
So, as I was sitting in my chair reading my book, Jenny was across from me reading the comics and Cupcake was beside me curled up with my slippers. The best reading happens with my cat curled up close by snoring away.
Keith and I went on another 4 mile walk on Sunday morning. I tried to capture this photo earlier and it was too dark, but I tried again and got this shot of the sunlight shining through the trees. I love our early morning walks so much!! It’s something I’m really going to miss when Keith goes back to work. It has been a definite perk of him working from home.
Throughout the summer the older kids have had lots of youth activities online and have even started going to an outdoors, socially distanced youth worship at our church. Poor Jenny hasn’t had as many opportunities to stay connected with her friends at church. She was so excited to begin meeting on Zoom this week.
Sunday afternoons are for homeschool planning.
Keith had to work on a project all weekend. I went to Starbucks to pick up a well deserved treat for him when he finished his project on Sunday afternoon. I am very thankful for our nearby Starbucks drive-thru.
Jenny spent some time painting on Sunday afternoon. Here she is explaining all the colors in her painting to me.
Even though I thoroughly enjoy my weekends, I am always ready for a return to routine on Monday….well, almost always.
I pray that you had a relaxing weekend and are ready for a new week!
