Will is getting closer and closer to walking. I predict it to be by the end of the week. I’m sure having another adult in the house would speed up the process.
Yesterday a friend came over for dinner and we were having Will walk between the two of us. He took about six steps unassisted!
He took a few steps at home for me this afternoon and later in the day while we were at Mindy’s for Luke’s birthday party, he started taking even more steps.
I am having really mixed emotions about his upcoming new accomplishment. It is always exciting to see your baby meet a milestone…and walking is a HUGE one. So, I am excited in that respect, but I am also SCARED TO DEATH.
Will is a climber and unfortunately, he isn’t scared of much at all.
This morning I put on a Miss Pattycake DVD for the girls and Will while I was ironing our church clothes and my hair (I guess using a flat iron is considered ironing your hair…that does sound really odd). As I was half way through with my hair when I heard a horrible thump and I immediately knew it came from Will.
I dropped my comb, jumped over the baby gate, and went running in the living room.
Of course by the time I got there, he was already SCREAMING.
I found him on the floor behind the couch. Apparently, he decided to do a nosedive over the back of the couch.
I scooped him up and began to comfort him and get an ice pack for his forehead where a huge goose egg was already popping up.
In just a few minutes time, he was feeling better and starting to climb on MC’s bed!
So, while I am excited to see him meet a huge milestone by walking, I am also SCARED of the dangers that walking is going to bring into our lives.
This is him standing on his own at Mindy’s tonight. He looks like he is about to take off walking. You can see the shiner on his forehead above his right eye.
Prayers would be appreciated for his safety and my sanity!

LOL I remember those days! Anna still is always covered in bruises. She likes to climb, but doesn’t know any safe way down!

I understand your fear! My son is 10 months old and already trying to stand by himself. Walking is just right around the corner.
I am getting more used to him falling. For some reason, when he crawls, he forgets to move his arms sometimes, and falls flat on his face. He has bled a few times and had a few goose eggs of his own.
We can pray for each other and our children! Hopefully it won’t be so bad.
By the way, he’s gorgeous!

I share that fear! Oddly enough it is my two girls that show the fearlessness. My 2 yrd old is a tough cookie, but the baby, well is a baby and when she falls she wails…. I’ve caught her standing on the chair in the kitchen more than once (and she is only 10 mths old) I feel your pain girlie… I share your fear!
He is so adorable standing up all by himself!! 🙂
