One of the things that I love most about homeschooling, or at least having a plan to homeschool my children is watching them learn and grow on a daily basis…even when they are just playing.
Because we are a homeschooling, learning is a way of life. It intentionally takes place at all times. I am always incorporating it into the girls play time, meal times, and at other various times throughout our day.
I am so excited when I see them learning and getting excited about that in spontaneous ways.
Like this morning when the kids were playing with Legos while watching Sesame Street.
MC looked up and says, “Mommy, I made a FOUR!”
And she showed me her lego creation with a perfect shape of the number four built on top of a block.
EA was so excited about the attention MC got from her four that she started working on something herself. She brought over a letter Z that she made on top of some legos herself.
I didn’t give the girls an “assignment” to do either of these, but I was sure excited when they did. Because their learning efforts are encouraged they are excited themselves at the things they can do.
We do many things throughout the day to encourage a love for learning.
Things as simple as building with legos, reading, singing, drawing, and playing.
Learning does not have to take place only between the ages of 4 and 18 on Monday through Friday from 8 am to 3 pm in the months of August to May in the confines of a school building.
It can take place between the ages of 0 and 150 on Monday through Sunday twenty-four hours a day (yes, even when they’re sleeping) in the months of January to December in the home, church, grocery store, and every single place we go.

Love it! Those are my favorite learning moments, t00 – isn’t that rewarding?? I love that my daughter just loves to learn, and it’s a natural part of our days. Obviously we’ll have to get more structured with it down the road, but she already knows so much just from day-to-day play!
