I have no idea why Jenny insists on turning this stool upside down to sit on the inside of it.
She seems happy, but it looks so uncomfortable!
—————
I posted this picture and brief comments last night, but even as I went to bed, it seemed to be somewhat incomplete.
This morning I realized why, so I’m adding my {more complete} thoughts.
—————-
As I was drying my hair this morning, and thinking about how silly my little girl is to sit in such an uncomfortable place, it dawned on me that I’m not so much unlike her.
So often…too often…I choose to be uncomfortable as well.
I place myself in situations where I am outside of God’s will.
Maybe I have a discontented, complaining heart and attitude.
Maybe I’m being inpatient with my children.
Maybe I’m sinning, speaking lies and gossiping.
Maybe I’m disregarding my calling to be busy in my home.
Whatever the exact situation may be, I’m being disobedient and choosing to place myself in an uncomfortable spot.
Just like my baby in this picture.
And like her I may seem happy on the outside. I may have a plastered smile on my face, but there is no denying the face that I am most certainly uncomfortable.
The answer to this uncomfortable spot that I’ve placed myself in is quite simple.
In Christ I can confess my sin, my choices that have placed me in this uncomfortable spot.
He is always ready to forgive my sins. Always waiting with open arms for me to come to Him in confession and repentance.
I have the freedom to sit comfortably in His presence and experience true happiness and joy.

She is so big, Kim! Where does this time go?

We have that exact same stool and when my son was that size he did the EXACT same thing! It must be one of those things that’s just logical to the baby brain. And only in the baby brain.

Great analogy. I agree that we get ourselves in uncomfortable situations a lot of the time. Love her photo though. She looks so adorable!
