Several weeks ago, scrapbooking guru Ali Edwards hosted her yearly Week in the Life project for 2011.
I decided that I would participate for the first time this year.
I’m already doing a digital Project Life that I am really enjoying so much. I share those pictures and layouts with you here each week.
Project Life is really going to give me a good look at each week of our lives when the year is done.
A Week in the Life album sounded like the perfect way to get an even more detailed look at our daily lives.
The week to be documented was actually July 24-30 (the week before we left for vacation) so I knew that I wouldn’t be able to complete the entire album before we left.
My main goal was to take lots and lots of pictures and document every thing throughout the week.
I downloaded printables from Ali Edwards to write down the details of each day so I wouldn’t forget anything important.
Around the middle of the week I began to feel a bit overwhelmed with this project and needed motivation to keep going, so I started putting the pages of the album together.
That was the perfect motivation!!! It kept me going and I was even able to get the basics (photos and journaling) of each digital page completed before we left on our vacation.
It didn’t take a ton of work to complete the rest of the layouts after I returned.
And now I am happy to announce that all of the pages are done…yippee!!
I decided to do this album in 8 1/2 x 11 size so that I could print the pages on my home computer and put them in page protectors in a three ring binder. This will make it easy to thumb through and to add to in years to come.
Here’s a look at my Week in the Life 2011 Album. I placed the two-pages of each day side by side for you to get a glimpse of what they look like together.

My biggest tip for completing an entire album project like this is to use a coordinating kit throughout so the pages have a cohesive look. It also makes it quicker to put together. I also recommend using the same font for your journaling throughout.
For this album I used the kit and template – 10080 Minutes by Traci Reed. I also used the fonts Pea Robyn and Pea Nancy from Kevin and Amanda.
Now I can’t wait for next year.
I wonder how our lives will be different…

I saw that you had linked to Ali’s site so I came over to see your finished album. It’s wonderful! I love the colors and your advice about using a kit was right on. What a great treasure for your family to enjoy – and to use for comparison for next year. Take care!

This is just lovely! Your advice about using a kit or something similar to keep the same feel across the whole has worked out really well – I thought you’d handwritten your journalling till I got to the end! Thank-you for the peek!
