I packed my first Operation Christmas Child shoebox when I was in college. Tears streamed down my face as I watched the Operation Christmas Child video for the first time and I realized the huge impact a simple shoe box filled with Christmas gifts can have.
This year each of my four children excitedly packed a shoe box to be sent to a child in need…more need than their minds can truly comprehend. After packing their shoe boxes, their prayers were focused on the children who would receive their gifts.
Twelve year old Evelyn Pinnow began a shoe box club when she was eight years old. She has led and encouraged children in her club to pack shoe boxes throughout the year and this year she will be delivering the 100 millionth shoe box to a little girl in the Dominican Republic.
Evelyn has been traveling across the country rallying other kids and families for Operation Christmas Child. The last city she will be stopping at before traveling to the Dominican Republic is Charlotte, NC. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be there! My two little girls will be attending the rally in Charlotte with me and I am beyond excited about the impact this will have on their little hearts.
I can’t wait to share our experience at the 100 Millionth Shoe Box rally in Charlotte next week!
Did you participate in Operation Christmas Child this year?
National Collection week was November 12-19, but you can still participate through Build a Box, a fun and easy way to bless a needy child by giving a shoe box gift online.

This was our first year to pack a shoebox! My oldest is almost 4 so we thought it would be a great way to teach her to give. She had a fun time picking out things to pack in the box. Our only trouble was trying to get everything to fit!

I think OCC is an excellent way to teach children to give! And trying to get everything to fit can be quite a challenge, but what a great problem to have!
