Like most of you, I have been thinking a lot about the upcoming year and my goals for it.
I am looking forward to everything that 2009 has to bring. Keith will be coming home twice this year! Once for a two week visit during his “rest and relaxation” leave from Iraq and again when he comes back for good!
I love setting goals and having fresh starts in life. That’s why Monday is my favorite day of the week….it represents a time to start over, to put behind the failures of the last week and begin again with renewed hope and motivation.
The start of a new year is the perfect way to begin new!
I have four goals for this year. I am working on being more specific with them and coming up with a plan for accountability with my goals.
I even put one of my goals to work today and started scrapooking again! Not that I have quit, but I just haven’t been as focused on that as I would like to be.
Credits: Learning Curve kit by Andilynn Designs at ScrapmattersMy first goal is to grow spiritually by maintaining a regular quiet time of prayer and Bible Study. I have a real desire to increase my prayer life. I struggle with this more than I do with studying and reading my Bible. I think many people have this struggle. But God works and speaks through communication with him. I want to eagerly bring my heart before the Lord and intercede for the needs of others. I am really excited about the Bible study I have been doing and am trying to decide on the next study that I will do. I am on the sixth week of Beth Moore’s online study, Believing God. I have been stretched though my time in His word.
My next goal is to walk on the treadmill at least five days a week and make healthier food choices. I would love to lose some weight as well, but don’t want to necessarily make that my end goal. I’m sure that if I am exercising regularly and making healthy eating choice the weight I want to lose will come off.
During Keith’s first deployment, I found digital scrapbooking. I have two main hobbies. Digital scrapbooking is one and blogging is the other. Many times they go hand in hand and I do want to blend them more. I would love to develop my skills more and one of the best ways to do that is to actually complete layouts. My goal is to average three layouts a week. My first of the year was completed today!
I also want to focus on being a better wife, mother, and homemaker. This is my first priority. These are the things that God has called me to do and it is so often easy to get distracted from these misions. My desire is to stay focused.
So, what about you? Do you make resolutions each year? I would love to hear about your goals or resolutions for 2009.
Happy New Year!

Fantastic goals! I am on week 7 of Believing God. Isn’t it wonderful?! 🙂
I posted my resolutions in my latest post. I am doing Beth’s challenging of memorizing 2 Bible verses a month for the next year. 😉
I am so excited that your husband will get to come home this year. Y’all are amazing!
God bless you.

I am a big fan of Beth Moore… she has challenged me so much!! My goals for the year are to be more intentional… and to spend more time daily in the Word and with our Lord…and to use my time wisely!

I have suggestion for your next Bible Study– It’s one I did in 08 that was AWESOME– Got me into the word of God lik NEVER before– It is by Pricilla Shirer (Tony Evans daughter) and is called “Can we Talk?”. LOVED IT.
As for resolutions, I need to sit down as you have and REALLY make them, so they will be measurable, etc. I know I want to exercise more (at all) and I need to be “slow to speak and slow to anger”— my temper is TOO quick. Thanks for inspiring me to get serious about my goal setting. 🙂
