1. Meet my new baby
Yes, this is my new baby, but it’s not of the human kind. After saving all of my pennies, last weekend I was able to upgrade to a new computer and monitor. I have been dreaming of a wide screen monitor for years for my scrapbooking and the computer I was using was running super low on RAM and was getting so frustrating! So…I researched and researched exactly what I wanted. I searched this purchase more than any other purchase I’ve ever made and I’m pretty much in love!
I ended up with a HP Envy 700 Desktop that is loaded with 12 GB of RAM and a 2 TB hard drive and a 27″ Asus LED HD monitor. I thought switching to Windows 8 would be a headache, but I’ve actually enjoyed it. I love that my computer doesn’t get all gummed up when I’m working on projects. And I cannot tell you how much I am loving the monitor…It is incredible for working on scrapbook pages and photo editing.
2. Busy Day
We had a super busy day planned today. We have a homeschool PE class on post, which is about a 30 minute drive away, every Friday. And I got a reminder last weekend for the kids’ dentist appointments that were scheduled for today beginning at 11:15. I had just enough time to drive to the dentist appointments on the other side of El Paso from post after the kids got out of homeschool PE.
I usually take Jenny on a coffee date to Starbucks with me on Friday mornings while her brother and sisters are in PE. It’s usually coffee for me and juice and a piece of cake for her. Today I decided not to go to Starbucks partly because I wanted to not spend money on coffee and partly because I just wanted to spend some time hanging out with the other moms. Well, while I was talking away, Jenny occupied herself by finding balls and kicking them around the soccer field.
When there was only about 15 minutes left in the class, I looked up and over at Jenny to see her fall into a mud puddle and begin crying. Yes, a mud puddle in El Paso where it never ever rains…crazy!!
I tried my best to clean her up with baby wipes given to me by one of the other moms, but it was looking hopeless. Finally my friend suggested that I should make a quick trip to the PX for new clothes while she watched little Miss Jenny for me. And that’s what I did. Five minutes to the PX…five minutes to pick up a new outfit, socks, and shoes and check out…five minutes back to the PE field to pick up the kids, change Jenny’s clothes and get on the road for our dentist appointments.
Whew!
We did make it to the dentist on time.
Jenny’s clothes are being washed along with mine which got caked in mud from picking up Jenny.
AND I picked up some chocolate for myself while at the PX because on days like today, chocolate is a necessity!
3. Funny Story
Speaking of chocolate…and Jenny who happens to be a huge fan of chocolate…
Yesterday morning Jenny came to my room while I was doing my hair and make-up to ask me “some-king”.
Our conversation went like this…
Jenny: “Mommy, can we have chocolate?”
Me: “No.”
Jenny: “Why not?”
Me: “Because you haven’t obeyed mommy this morning.” (along with a million other reasons)
Jenny: “Yes, I have.”
Me: “Have you gotten dressed?” (I had told her several times already to get dressed)
Jenny: “No.”
Me: “No chocolate then.”
Jenny: Yells out as she’s going downstairs to her sisters, “Mommy said we can have chocolate!!!”
4. Red Velvet Poke Cake
We’re going to a Valentine’s party with some friends tomorrow and I’m making this Red Velvet Poke Cake. It looks delicious and I can’t wait to try it!! I also hope that everyone at the party LOVES it and I don’t have to bring any home, because that just won’t be a recipe for my success.
5. Love is Magic layout
I did this layout for some new releases by Charlize Creations this week. The picture of EA was taken this summer when we were at a playdate at our friends’ house. The kids decided to put on a magic show. It was perfect along with this Love is Magic bundle!
Okay…that’s it for today! I have a huge pile of laundry calling my name.
I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
