Happy Friday, friends!!!
Reading // I’m still reading Everyone Brave is Forgiven by Chris Cleave. I’m going slower on this book, but I just haven’t had long stretches of reading time. I have read this little by little and I’m about three-fourths of the way done. I love the story and especially the language of this book. I’ve written down several quotes from this book that really stuck out to me. Here’s one that I’m constantly thinking about from p. 77, “She felt five years old, and five hundred.” Sometimes I feel both five years old and five hundred. And I’m neither one.
Watching // The kids and I finished watching Anne with an “E” on Netflix this week. I know there have been mixed reviews on this and I’ve *heard* that true Anne of Green Gables fans haven’t been a fan of this, but I really enjoyed it. I’m not necessarily someone who likes to delve into critiquing shows or books after or even as I consume them. I just enjoy them for what they are and that’s exactly what I did with this show. I really loved the actress who played Anne and I think she did a great job with it!
Loving // I mentioned several weeks ago in a Weekend Lens post that I would like to see the “@” sign become a trend and I’m really embracing that…ha! I found this block at an antique store in town and just could not pass it up. It’s sitting on my desk right now and I smile every time I look over and see it.
Visiting // This afternoon we visited the Carousel Museum in Leavenworth with friends. It is such a happy place!!! Jenny rode the carousel at least four times and had a blast. The C.W. Parker Carousel Museum is actually celebrating its 104th birthday this year. It was a great activity to enjoy on a hot summer afternoon!
Anticipating // I now it probably sounds crazy, but I am actually looking forward to the weather in El Paso. This is what we have to look forward to soon! Actually, we’re missing the hottest part of the year. But I would still prefer these 100+ degree temps with no humidity over the humidity in Kansas.
I hope you’re enjoying your summer and having a great weekend!!
