Hello and happy Friday, friends!!
It’s been a hot minute, so let’s catch up with a quick 5 on Friday…what I’ve been up to lately edition.
{one} Library of Congress
Keith and I went on a day date to the Library of Congress last weekend. We spent some time walking around and exploring a bit before I got a reader card. I feel so official having a card from the Library of Congress…it makes my nerdy heart so happy!! Then we spent a good bit of time just reading in the quiet library. It was the best!
After leaving the library, we went to Burrito Brothers for lunch. It reminded us of one of our favorite burrito places in El Paso. I had a spinach quesadilla and Keith had a huge burrito…they were both delicious!!
I love living in the DC area and being able to take fun day trips like this!!
{two} A Tree Grows in Brooklyn
The book that I read at the Library of Congress was A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Keith gave me this book along with Commonwealth by Ann Patchett for Valentine’s Day (books = love) this year.
I loved this book so much!!! It was a book I’ve wanted to read for so long and I’m just so happy that it was such a delightful read.
I loved it so much that I didn’t want it to end! I dragged out the last several chapters for as long as I possibly could. This is going on my all-time favorites list for sure!
{three} Emma
Keith and I saw the movie Emma last night and it was so good!!! We went to our favorite neighborhood theater. We laughed so hard…I love Jane Austen’s witty and dry sense of humor.
My favorite part was when someone in the audience (on the other side of the theater) let out a loud audible GASP! when Emma found out that Jane Fairfax was engaged to Frank Churchill. If you’ve read the book, it’s not a spoiler.
I’m listening to the soundtrack on Spotify because the music played a huge part in the movie. It was so delightful and fun!! We’re talking about going back to see it again.
{four} Happy 15th Birthday
EA and MC have a birthday coming up and we have celebration plans for this weekend. I cannot believe my babies are going to be FIFTEEN years old. They are super excited about this birthday and I’m excited for them. I am finding lots of joy in having teenagers. They are beautiful young women that I am incredibly proud of!
This picture is the earliest photo I have of the two of them together.
{five} Austria
I am headed on a trip to Austria next week and I’m unbelievably excited about it!!! I’m going with some women from my church and can’t wait to share more about my experience there.
Please pray for my travels and for my family. This is the longest I’ve been away from my kids. It’s hard to leave, but Keith has been so encouraging and I know he is going to have a great week with the kids. I am very thankful for this opportunity.
Until next time…remember to dwell on all the lovely and wonderful things that make life beautiful!
