Keith and I put the kids in respite care yesterday and had a daytime date in the city of Trier, Germany.
I know, again.
We thought to take our good camera this time and we were able to get lots of great pictures. We visited the Ampitheater, the Dom Museum, and did some street shopping (and eating). We splurged with an incredible lunch at a restaurant on the street and ate at an Eis Cafe before leaving for home.
I usually spend time editing the pictures I post here, but today I decided to put up the raw photos. I want to move on to posting and I’m a little meticulous with my editing, so it would take a couple hours to get them “just right”. I don’t have that kind of time today. Also, you get to see who has the real photographic talent in this family….Chaplain Andrews!
As always, we enjoyed our time in Trier, our favorite German city.
At the Ampitheater….
We assume that this was a holding area for some fierce animal before going into the ring to maim something in the Roman Ampitheater.
Going underground…underneath the arena.
There were several German school field trips going on. This one class was reacting a Gladiator fight in the amphitheater. The students were trying to pop a balloon tied to their ankles. It was fun to watch!!
A thunderstorm came up before we left. Keith was able to capture come great weather images and we make it to the car just before it started raining!
Trier street market….
This is the restaurant/cafe where we had lunch. Keith had their special spaghetti and I had a shrimp scampi with mixed vegetables and potato wedges…YUMM!
The kids had a fun time at their daycare. They were wore out, though!
Because it’s so hard for me to post anything without sharing pics of them, here they are on the way home.
The girls are going to a preschool fitness class this evening. I can’t wait to see how that goes. I’ll let you know and share pictures, I’m sure!

What beautiful pictures! The German towns are so different from the French towns where we lived. I really find that interesting. That’s like Raleigh and Columbia having totally different architecture. Amazing to me.
I am glad you two enjoyed a day toyourselves. Hoping for that during our vacation with M’s parents.

Thought I would just pop by to say Hi!
Trier is also my favorite city to visit in Germany. I just love the feeling of going back in time when you are there!

Monica, you made me very homesick tonight!!! The first time we lived in Germany, we lived not too far away from Trier in a tiny village called Kordel. My first Christmas party dress was bought in Trier! 🙂 The second time we were in Germany, we lived in Putt…a very smaller village about 40 minutes from Aachen (we were at a NATO base) But I would make my hubbie meander down to Bitburg, Spangdalhem and Trier to see all of the sights and partake of all of the comfort food we love. We’ve been home for a year now and miss Germany tons! Thanks for sharing a bit of our “other home!”
