As I’m nearing the end of my first trimester of my third pregnancy, I am so very thankful that I have not suffered from morning sickness.
I know, you can all hate me now.
With all three of my pregnancies, the first trimester has meant being extremely tired and experiencing waves of nausea.
I have found that the best way for me to get the nausea to subside and avoid getting physically sick has been to eat something at the first sign of hunger.
If I start to feel hungry and try to ignore it, my body reacts with worsening nausea and a desire to hurl.
I learned with my very first pregnancy (twing) that it was essential to eat as soon as I started to feel hungry. I kept crackers by my bedside and snacks inside my purse whenever I went anywhere.
I think this is a big reason that I was able to avoid full out morning sickness.
On Friday I was heading out the door to take EA and MC to a friend’s house.
Suddenly it hit me…ACK!! I’m hungry….I have to eat RIGHT NOW!!
So, I grabbed the closest thing I could….leftover pecan pie from our delicious Thanksgiving dinner.
After a few bites, I was fine…and could continue on with my morning.
I know if I would have tried to ignore being hungry, I would have started feeling much worse.
Very important note: I really do count myself very blessed at not having suffered from terrible morning sickness. I know that some do and there’s not a whole lot they can do to help it. My heart really goes out to all of you!
Another very important note: Eating with you’re hungry doesn’t necessarily mean always grabbing for the nearest pecan pie that you have lying around. There are lots of healthy foods that make great snacks when hunger strikes and you have to have something!

Oh I sufferred with morning sickness with most of my pregnancies. I was miserable. I tried everything. I did notice that when I ate something when I was hungry that I did feel better. I remember begging God to end it with my Jonah. He was my second, and the nausea was non stop. Chocolate chip cookies helped! lol

I ate from the moment I opened my eyes until I went to bed, probably with a piece of crackers hanging off of my mouth, through the whole pregnancy. Kept the all-day sickness and gained a second chin. Hope you continue to feeling better!

I had morning sickness (usually in the evenings only) with all five pregnancies. Ugh. It usually lasted until 16-18 weeks and then pretty much disappeared until heartburn set in :).
It’s good that you take a small break since it is easy to overlook your needs when others are demanding your time!
Take care!

I can so relate… I had morning sickness for months… when I first woke up in the morning… the minute my head lifted from the pillow… it was so bad that I had to have a garbage pail next to the bed.
Glad to hear you are nausea free this time… I didn’t know you were expecting… congrats!

a cold apple….also I heard that if you let yourself get too hungry….like if you wait too long to eat you get nausea….I liked the cold apples and laying on my side helped too…crackers and other things never really helped me, just made it worse….
