I’ve missed being intentional about looking for and naming my blessings.
In not being intentional about this, I have found myself in a place of discontentment.
Finding contentment has always been a struggle for me.
When I’m not intentional about finding the blessings hidden within each day, I don’t.
But, when I take the time to be intentional about being grateful for my daily blessings, when I search them out and purposefully name them, I am much more content.
So…I’m back with naming my blessings.
I’m attempting to capture them in photos and write them down.
And each week, I’ll be posting them here.
I’m not so concerned about counting them, so I’m not going to do that.
Confession time…I’m not a list maker.
I want to be and often think that I *should* be.
But, I’m not.
In trying to assign a number to each blessing I name, I get stressed about making each one unique, in losing count, and in keeping up with the number.
Numbers…numbers…numbers…ack!
This is not about stressing over numbers and lists.
This is about finding contentment and building gratitude into my moments and days.
It’s about keeping it there.
So…this week, I’m back to naming Blessings All Mine that I have found over the past few days.
Will has found a new way to sign his school papers…”Will Jedi”. This child is crazed over Star Wars!
One morning Will asked to look through my scrapbook albums. I think it may have been a first for him! I was more than happy to oblige. It warms my heart to see my children looking through the pages I have created and remembering the memories we’ve shared.
I set up a little photo booth with props for my Bunco party and I just had to have a picture with my girl! She is such a blessing to our family.
We went to Albequerque for a Strong Bonds retreat last weekend. These two declared that they were having a “hotel party”. They’re such good friends!
On the first night of our retreat, the hotel surprised my husband and I by sending up some complimentary room service snacks. They really enjoy working with my husband because he isn’t rude and demanding…he is an awesome chaplain and it shows in everything he does!
Jenny came into the bathroom as I was doing my hair and make-up this morning and asked to sit on the counter. Then she asked what every single piece of make-up in my bag was. Then she asked to try putting some on herself. Sometimes in the busyness of the day with getting everyone’s needs met and homeschooling, I feel like I’m missing out on time with this sweet girl. Our time of putting on make-up together was a blessing to my morning.
What are the blessings you’re counting today or this week?
Susan Smith-Allen says
I have many blessings. I thank God for my long-term friends. The blessing of having Face Book helps me keep in touch with my sister and niece and nephew who lives 800 miles away and my best friend who lives 900 miles away, etc. It is really a blessing! My children’s health and mine. Thank you for your post today. It reminded me of how much I have to be thankful for.
