We have a choice as to how we will see everything that we are faced with in this life.
We can choose to see it as a curse or as a blessing.
Each day, every moment, can be seen as either.
On Saturday evening my baby started feeling sick and spiked a fever. I think she’s only run a fever twice in her entire little life.
I knew then that the night would demand extra cuddles and our church plans would be canceled.
I had a choice.
I could either approach this begrudgingly or with open arms.
I don’t always make the right choices, but this time I did.
I embraced this time with open arms, counting the blessings within this moment.
The blessing of cuddling with my baby, her warm head against my chest.
I had only one plan for Sunday…to cuddle and love on this precious one.
Everything else that was done was counted as an abundant blessing.
Each day holds abundant blessing.
It is up to us to choose to find, see, and count them.
This week I am counting…
471. hot chocolate on a cold night
472. books scattered around the living room floor
473. holding Jenny close after a too-short nap
474. dentist visit – two out of three with no cavities
475. hallmark cards given by my husband
476. a husband who helps with the laundry
477. blue skies in the winter, the sun shining through
478. her exclamations of “oh, oh!”
479. a photo of me at one on my grandaddy’s lap
480. homecoming celebrations of friends far away
481. getting news of my husband’s promotion…confirmation & recognition
482. chocolate and vanilla glazed cake doughnuts…from my oven!
483. a quick dentist appointment, leaving time for three haircuts
484. coming home to a clean house
485. holding and cuddling with a sick baby
486. big shoes on little feet
487. lesson planning on Sunday afternoon

As a “grandma,” with her kids long adults, I’m so glad you were able to choose the good thing Saturday night. I remember sick “babies” being so hard, with so much to do, their crying, and me feeling like I didn’t know what to do to make them better. Isn’t it amazing what understanding about the whole being thankful for EVERYTHING that God brings in your life can do to your focus. Great post!! Keep on thanking God and loving your family……thanks for your honesty.
