We had a wonderful Christmas this year! It’s hard to believe that we’re beginning our move to Texas and our packers will begin in just two days.
We chose to take the weekend off from about the move to enjoy spending time with family and celebrating the birth of our Savior.
We visited with my family over the weekend and then went to a Christmas party at my husband’s parents on Sunday.
Yesterday, Keith worked on getting some things checked off of our move to-do list while I did some grocery shopping, and baking for our Christmas Eve party.
I made Christmas Divinity Candy for the second year and it turned out much better this time around. This is a Christmas treat that Keith’s grandmother made every year. When we found this out last year, I decided I wanted to learn to make it myself so it can become a tradition for our family as well.
The trick that really helped this year was to spoon it into baking cups while it dried out.
Another recipe that I’m including in our Christmas menu is my Grandmama’s chewies.
I remember eating these every year when our family gathered at my grandparent’s home on Christmas Eve.
We look forward to our family Christmas Eve party every year. I had a huge spread of food this year! We watched the Polar Express after our party and before heading off to bed.
The kids asked to check NORAD for Santa’s progress before bed. When they discovered that he was already visiting homes in Spain they cleared out of our room and were quick to jump into bed, sure that it wouldn’t be long before he arrived at our home.
We told our little ones not to get up until 6 this morning. MC was so excited for Christmas that she knocked on our door at 1:30 this morning saying that she was tired of waiting for it to be 6 o’clock. She had been watching the clock since 11.
Poor thing!
She did eventually go back to sleep, but she was the first one up and downstairs at exactly 6:03 this morning.
The others made it down one by one to discover their stockings and gifts left by Santa.
Jenny was the last one up and she was a bit overwhelmed by everything for a while, but it didn’t take her too long to warm up!
They all played with their new toys while I prepared our Christmas morning breakfast.
For the year’s Christmas morning breakfast we had French Toast Casserole topped with strawberries, whipped cream and sprinkles and sausage.
After breakfast and clean up the kids enjoyed opening their presents.
EA and MC received the American Girl Dolls they’ve been asking for all year.
Jenny and Will received Jessie and Woody from Toy Story…they were so cute playing with them together!
Will’s Christmas was filled with all things super hero and Star Wars.
The perfect boy Christmas for my perfect little boy!
We spent the remainder of the day playing with all of our toys and time with one another.
