The kids and I made calendars for the months of April and May.
We’re marking X’s every night on the calendar to count down the days until their Daddy comes back home to us!!

That is such a great strategy, one I often use with the Misses. We are currently crossing off the days until the BIG FLIGHT. I think it is a concrete, visual and kinestethic activity for people who don’t quite get how many days it takes to reach a goal. They can count and know that 35 is more than 10, but I do think this helps them to relate that math skills to the actual passage of time. Not to mention the fact that it helps stop the “is today the big day” questions. 🙂

I have done something similar with The Girl we got he a cheap calendar that has all the major holidays marked on it with a picture and then we went through and put everyone’s birthdays on it with birthday themed stickers.
