Today was our Batallion’s Easter Party. The kids were so excited to go, although they were a little confused about it all.
I had to explain to them over and over this morning that no, it wasn’t actually Easter, we were just having an Easter party today. You just have to love the literalness of four year olds. To them going to an Easter party equals that today must be Easter.
Because of the weather we had this week (snow and lots of rain) the original location had to be changed indoors. Each company was responsible for bringing in a certain type of dish. We were responsible for side dishes and I brought in pasta salad. Yumm!
We had lots of fun eating and visiting with our friends, but the highlight of the day was when a special guest arrived. The Easter bunny came in to visit and take pictures with all of the children.
Bless EA’s heart, she followed this bunny around the entire time, just begging to be hugged.
She’s the one in the pink top. MC and Will did not share her sentiments for this furry creature. They cringed, grabbed onto me and cried whenever he came too close.
Well, she finally got her wish when the crowd died down. She had the Easter bunny all to herself for a hug and she loved it!!
But don’t worry about MC too much. She had fun of her own coloring, which is one of her most favorite activities. I printed out some coloring sheets for the party yesterday and ever since MC has been wanting to color an Easter picture. I think she asked me about it exactly 1,308, 538 times. And, no, that’s not an exaggeration at all.
All three of them were able to hunt eggs. Even though they were all pretty much clueless about this Easter tradition. It dawned on me that this is the first time Easter egg hunting for all three of them. They did get a couple eggs a piece, though. They had fun looking at the treasures found inside their eggs (a sticker and a Starburst candy).
The Easter bunny handed out prizes to all the kids there today. It was a small stuffed funny and a pinwheel. Will was absoltely facinated withe the pinwheel. He wanted me to blow it over and over so he could see it spin. And he even got pretty good at spinning it himself.
Isn’t he the cutest baby boy you’ve ever seen….even with cookie smeared all over his face!
Oh, and my favorite quote of the entire day was one by EA. She was trying to see her beloved Easter bunny but couldn’t because of the other kids that were standing in front of her, closer to the bunny. EA looks at me and says, “All those kids are IN MY FACE and I can’t see that bunny!”
That, my friends, is classic EA.

What fun this must have been! I love that EA wanted to be near the bunny but the other 2 didn’t want to be anywhere close. That is so true of my kids – #1 and #3 REALLY dislike Santa, Easter Bunnies, Clowns or any other giant stuffed figure. #2 on the other hand… she’ll gladly sit with them and hug on them and basically smother them with attention 🙂
So cute to see them enjoying their prizes too – I thoroughly enjoy watching my children be enthralled by a special toy/book/moment.

Kids are funny! I can understand their thinking. It’s an Easter party, it should be on the right day, shouldn’t it?
That is so sweet her following the bunny around! I do love boys with messy faces, so precious!

25 Years ago I was approached by the easter bunny and I ran away and hid because he had a hollow head (I guess the eye’s were hollow somehow ) , I have never really quite been able to go near the dear sweet fella since !!
25 years its been and I still shiver at the easter bunny. I wonder if my kids will react the same way (I will make sure their easter bunnies head IS NOT HOLLOW)
LOL
Happy Holidays !!
