I never would have guessed that one of my oldest would lose her first tooth
on the same day that my baby gained her first tooth!
But that is the way things happened here last weekend.
It left me feeling quite sentimental.
I actually cried after my husband pulled MC’s loose tooth out of her mouth. MC really is a little girl now and I can see her maturing with every passing day.
I remember so clearly the moment that I discovered that she had her first tooth. My husband was away on his first deployment and I was taking care of my twin girls alone. I got out of our apartment once a week for a Bible Study class and to pick up some groceries. No one in my Bible Study realized that I was so alone.
I was having a really rough time with the girls one morning. They were both terribly fussy and the crying was non-stop. I finally put them both into their cribs and picked up the phone to call a friend.
I was stepping out on faith to reach out to someone.
I needed help.
I needed a listening ear.
I dialed her number half-way praying that she wouldn’t answer. I wouldn’t have to open myself up to being vulnerable.
God answered my prayers as he usually does, so much better than what I prayed.
My friend was home and she listened to me pour out my heart.
As I was talking to her I picked MC up to rock and comfort her. I placed my finger in her mouth for her to chew on and suddenly I said “ouch!”.
And then I thought…”wait a minute…this shouldn’t hurt.”
Yes, she had her first tooth.
And I had a valid explanation for her morning fussiness.
After that discovery and the sweet conversation with my friend, I was ready to face pseudo-single parenting again.
MC’s losing her first tooth on the same day that Jenny’s first tooth broke through was a bitter sweet time for me.
Both of my babies are growing up.
Much too fast.
It’s a reminder to cherish the time that I have with each of my little ones.

What a fantastic reminder of how quickly time can fly. All three of your girls are so cute (and so is the little guy). Is EA jealous of MC losing her tooth?
