Miss Jenny turned 5 months old last weekend! Each day gets a little bit easier than the day before. She is such a sweet baby, even when she doesn’t nap and cries all day!

This week I read two books…
Shopping for Time by Carolyn Mahaney, Nicole Mahaney Whitacre, Kristin Chesemore, and Janelle Bradshaw was an excellent book that has helped me and my time tremendously.
Because of this book, I have rejoined the 5 o’clock (yes, as in the morning) Club, waking at 5 to start my day. As a result, my days have been focused and I have been a better home manager. I also haven’t spent as much time blogging, but I will gladly give on that to be a better wife, mother, and homemaker!
If you’re feeling overwhelmed or frustrated with the way that you spend your time, I would very highly recommend this book.
Also, if you haven’t developed the discipline of waking early to start your day, let me encourage you to give it a try. It really has made a huge difference for me!
Rain Song by Alice J. Wisler is a beautifully written story of faith, adventure, romance, and finding peace with the past. It includes many southern charms that I just loved and was a pleasant read.
In Homeschool this Week…
We read the story of the Israelites leaving Egypt and the Ten Commandments.
EA and MC made a bar graph of the hair colors of our family members.
We finished reading The Hundred Dresses and began reading The Family Under the Bridge. The Hundred Dresses led to discussions of bullying and standing up instead of being quiet when someone is being made fun of. I’m looking forward to seeing what we’ll discuss as we read The Family Under the Bridge.
“H” was our letter of the week. We’ve practiced writing it and reading words with it. We also completed “h” letter pages in Get Set for the Code.
We also began incorporating reading into our school day. We’re using The Ordinary Parent’s Guide to Teaching Reading for this. EA was able to start right where we left off before Jenny arrived and MC is experiencing lots of success as we are reviewing a bit.
