Life has been pretty busy for us since my last post and will continue to be for the next week. I thought I would share a few highlights to get myself back into the bloggy game.
Last Thursday a friend came to visit with her family. They live in France but are from the same state as I am. She was so very supportive of me during Keith’s last deployment and I am so thankful that our friendship is able to continue as we are both living abroad. She has four year old twin girls, too….that was our original connection. We all headed out to eat at the Chili’s restaurant at the air base close by. We had a great time!! It is the best place to visit for a real “taste” of America! I had their chicken fried steak and can I just say, YUMMMMMMM. I think my mom has recommended that to me before. I should have listened earlier, because it was SO GOOD! I think I’ll order it the next ten times I eat there!
On Friday we took our girls to a nearby wild/natural animal park. It was much like a petting zoo, not that I’ve ever been to one of those, but that’s the closest thing I can compare it too. As we were leaving my girls were so excited to see the animals and MC said, “I’m going to see elephants”. Well, she didn’t see any elephants, but she/we did see lots of goats, sheep, pigs, deer, rams (I think), ducks, geese, turkeys, peacocks, and rabbits. The girls were able to feed the goats, pigs, and deer. The goats and done pig in particular followed us through a good portion of the park.
There was one very unfortunate mishap, though. The park basically consisted of a walking trail covered in dirt and gravel. One spot on the trail was downhill and pretty steep. Mary Catherine was going a bit too fast downhill, tripped, landed on her face, and tumbled! I stopped pushing Will in his stroller and quickly ran to her side. She was a brave little girl. She was most upset at the dirt that ended up in her mouth and coughed, gagged, and cried until we got it all out. Her face was dealt it’s fair share of scratches, but I can happily report that they are healing nicely.
Friday afternoon after the children had some rest time, we headed out to the playground behind our apartment. The girls were able to swing, climb, and slide. And even Will was able to get into some of the action with swinging and sliding on the baby slide (with Mommy’s help of course). Elizabeth Anne overcame her fear of slides and went down quite a few times. I am constantly amazed by the things Will does. He enjoyed sliding so much that he climbed the steps himsef to get up to the top of the baby slide. No, they weren’t high, BUT THEY WERE STEPS!! I would have NEVER thought of the girls climbing steps at just under a year old!!
Our time with our friends ended with a spaghetti dinner. They traveled home on Saturday.
I think the kids and I have finally recovered from all of the fun. But only to have another long round of fun…Keith’s parents are flying in tomorrow morning and will be visiting for a week. It seems like forever since I’ve seen them. The girls and I are very excited to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa. I can’t wait for them to have conversations with the girls and get to know little Will.

Thank you so much for connecting me with my friend Stephanie. I haven’t seen her since she left my school and was thrilled to find her again. It is such a small world. Who would have thought my friend from SC would move to France, visit her friend in Germany who also happens to be my online scrapbooking friend and reconnects with me in SC? Isn’t the internet a magical thing!

It looks like everyone had a great time!
(Expept for the moments surrounding the little mishap… poor thing. But look at that big, bright smile in spite of it all!!)
