Yesterday the kids and I went to the birthday party of a friend’s baby. It was her first birthday. We were able to help celebrate it with a cookout at their house and time with friends.
I actually met Uma through my friend Carol and by reading Uma’s blog. She’s left comments here as well. So, I was very excited to actually get to spend some time with her and her family.
Her baby is one of the most adorable babies ever!
Actually, the entire family is picture perfect!
We had a nice cookout of burgers and brats, followed by cake and cupcakes. Then everyone went outside to play in a real backyard and blow bubbles. Boy, do I ever miss having a backyard for the kids to play in!!
MC and EA got bubbles in their party bags, along with some other really cool toys.
After playing for a while, we went inside to watch Baby chase open her presents. We got her a play flower garden and baby legos.
After presents, we took a trip to the Eis Cafe near Uma’s house to get some gelato. Getting to eat gelato is one of the best things about living in Germany…..it is so good!!! It may be the only thing I actually miss when we get back to the states.
EA and MC rode in the trailer behind Uma’s husband’s bike on the way to the Eis Cafe. I felt so bad for him when we got there. Apparently, half-way there, the girls decided that they didn’t want to ride in the trailer and cried and screamed “I want my Mommy”. I think he was getting many stares from Germans on the way. Needless to say, they rode back in the van with me and we didn’t risk letting Will ride behind the bike.
Speaking of Will….he had fun playing with all of Chase’s little toys. But, please tell me this….when did my baby turn into such a little man???

They grow up in the blink of an eye! I now have real little ladies, wearing dresses, hairstyles and all. Will really has lost that “Baby” look though.
