Just over four months here and we’re planning our next move.
It’s a move across the country to a place that seems as foreign as Germany did five years ago.
We’re getting ready to leave and all my flesh wants to do is stay.
There…I said it…I want to stay.
I want to stay in the familiar.
I want to stay where I am.
I want to stay close to family.
I want to stay at this church.
I want to say in this house.
I want to stay to make friends, and to form community.
But I can’t.
We are called to go.
We are called to give up our fleshly desires and go when everything within us wants nothing more than to stay.
There is blessing in going. Blessings that I don’t want to miss out on.
Just as I desire to stay, I desire the blessings, the new adventures, and the ministry opportunities that will come with our obedience in going.
And isn’t that always the case.
Our flesh wants to stay put.
But we are called to go.
We are called to go talk to the friend in need.
We are called to go to the lost and proclaim Christ.
We are called go to out on a limb and leave our hearts and souls vulnerable.
We are called to go to the ends of the earth.
There is blessing in following in obedience and refusing to stay when that’s all our flesh wants to do.
I am joining with others today in writing from the heart for 5 Minutes Friday at Lisa Jo’s.
Want to join in? The “rules” are simple…
1. Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking.
2. Link back here and invite others to join in.
3. And then absolutely, no ifs, ands or buts about it, you need to visit the person who linked up before you & encourage them in their comments. Seriously. That is, like, the rule. And the fun. And the heart of this community..

Oh that going when you want to stay is so hard. As hard as staying when you want to go can be. Praying for you during this season, my friend.

Monica… First of all, thank you for selflessly serving our country, serving us. We are safely protected and have great freedom because your sacrifice.
Secondly, thank you for being real with us. It is tough moving, leaving behind friends, family, community. Emotions are real, raw, ours.
Finally, thank you for your missional attitude when it comes to your move. There are people needing Jesus where you’re going and you may be the one HE has chosen to use to reach them.
Thank you…
