As I was thinking about this list this morning, a new realization dawned on me.
It’s not about the list.
Making this list of gratitudes…of all my blessings…of thankfulness isn’t about the list.
It isn’t about a number.
It isn’t about the list making.
It’s about the life.
It’s about living a life filled with thankfulness…
filled with being grateful for all that has been given…
filled with a realization of my blessings.
I’ll take the life over the list any day.
But somehow, making the list is bringing about the living.
I’m so thankful for this discipline that is making me more aware of the life I’m living and how I want it to be focused on thankfulness.
This week I am thankful for…
72. cooking breakfast together
73. completed scrapbook pages
74. a spontaneous dinner out
75. swallowing frustration
76. a letter from a friend
77. reaching my weight loss goal at Weight Watchers
78. compliments at church
79. the new cry room at chapel…a place to nurse my baby
80. my husband’s favorite winning the race
81. a new week filled with new motivation, new grace, new determination and new love

I’m here from Ann’s this morning.
And amen – it’s not the number – it’s the counting – how each one marks a moment, lays down a stone on the path to the future with Our Lord.
And if I have to pick just one from your list, I pick: 77. reaching my weight loss goal at Weight Watchers (congratulations – I know much of weight loss and how much of a challenge it can be – the discipline, the hard of it, well done – well done!)
These words made me smile. Thank you.
God Bless you and all of yours

you’re so right. 🙂 it’s about the habit that comes of making the list, to look for His fingerprints and masterpieces in our every moment!
It’s such a beautiful, growing, learning, climbing steps from one transition to another, this gratitude listing.
Thanks for sharing at Ann’s.
Have a blessed week FULL of abounding gift from above!
in Him.

Swallowing frustration! I must say, that is a hard one, and not as tasty as one would like! I need to swallow more, and learn to say thank you as I do.
You know, you are so right — it’s not about the list or the numbers. But somehow, it seems to make the thanks real, the receiving greater, and the heart happier in the moment of writing. Thank you for sharing today. I’m so glad I came by!

this is so true! I find I live days of grumbling and disastisfaction. Making a list like this helps us refocus and I believe it instills seeds of joy! We can relish and enjoy every single day if we just focus on how God is blessing us instead of a life we want that isn’t what we have.
