I’m joining Sarah Mae at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee and many other wonderful ladies for a new challenge over the next month.
The challenge is to Get Dressed every day. And I don’t mean in sweats or yoga pants. No, this challenge is to really get dressed for our families.
Now, this is something that I pretty much do each and everyday. When my girls were babies {six years ago…yikes!!} I learned quickly that I had a much better day if I got up before them, took a shower, and GOT DRESSED. This includes wearing presentable clothes, make-up, and doing my hair.
At my farewell dinner before leaving Germany several of my friends commented on how they were surprised when they would come over to visit and I would be dressed in this way.
They thought that I had it all together.
As I promised them, I’m promising you that I don’t have it all together.
Not at all.
But I have learned that doing this one thing really makes a huge difference in the way that I feel about myself, in the way I parent my children, and in the way that I interact with my husband on a daily basis.
I view my job as a homeschooling mom of four children as a professional one. I want to approach each day as a professional and part of doing that is getting dressed.
If you struggle with this, I would challenge you to join in this “motivotional” challenge for the next month. Get dressed in the mornings and see what I difference it will make in your day.
If you already are in the habit of getting dressed each day, then join in and motivate others in their endeavor!
As part of the challenge, I’m going to attempt to take a picture of myself, up and dressed each day. I won’t make any promises that this will happen everyday, but I’ll definitely try!!

This is so true! On my days off, if I don’t have anything in the morning and don’t get dressed, my morning is wasted. I am completely unproductive if not properly dressed. If i’m in my pajamas, I’ll just get cereal (or starve out of laziness) and get on the computer and do nothing for a few hours. I’ll tell myself to get up but I have no motivation.
I like when I have something going on in the morning so that I’m forced to get up and get dressed. If that something is working out, yes I’m wearing sweats but I’m so sweaty after I have no choice but to change afterwards and be productive.
I recently cut back my hours at work and opted for mornings. If I worked noon-5p instead, I would get nothing done. Instead, I’m well dressed and have such productive afternoons (most of the time).
