EA and MC are in a three year old stage of constantly asking questions.
They have a question for everything under the sun and the question usualy begins with the word, “Why”.
Sometimes the only answer I can come up with for them is “Just Because”.
“Mommy, why is today Monday?” …. “Just because.”
“Mommy, why is it raining?” …. “Just because.”
“Mommy, why is it breakfast?” …. “Just because”.
I really need to be more creative with my answers for them. BECAUSE EA is beginning to catch on to the “Just because” game.
On Sunday the words looked cuter than words for church. Unfortunatly, I didn’t get pictures. EA wore a bright pink dress with pink polka dot tights and a pink hat. MC’s was the same, excpet in bright purple. EA even lamented as we walked out the door for chapel that she didn’t get to look in the mirror. I was being so patient that I opened the door and let them go back in and view their cuteness.
Not long after we came in as I was getting lunch ready, I spotted EA walking around without her tights or matching panties. When I asked her why she took them off, her reply was “Just Because”. I should have known to question her more.
After lunch, MC said she was ready for her nap, so I told her I would help her go potty first.
EA quickly spoke up, “Mommy, I think you need to clean the rug in the bathroom first.”
When I asked her “Why,” she said, “It’s wet”.
So, I ask, “WHY is the rug WET?”
And EA says, “Just Because”.
I headed into the bathroom to check out the damage. Aparently, after church she had to go potty and just didn’t make it in time.
That’s the real reason as to why the rug was wet.
It’s a much better reason that “Just Because”.
I would have been upset with EA had she not been so cute. I think it must be her new strategy for not getting into trouble….just look too cute for words and Mommy can’t get made at me.
My new strategy is to come up with a better answer for all the questions than “Just because”.
How do you answer all the relentless questions that your children toss your way?

My son is 10, and he still asks a thousand questions! So sometimes I just have to say “I don’t know…go online and look it up!”LOL

Honestly, I just try to answer as much as I can, within her scope of understanding. And when I can’t give her the answers, I simply tell her that I don’t know and not every question has an answer. But I will tell you that Google is my friend.

Monica, we are in the same boat here. Especially with A. EVERYTHING is a question… and another, and another… Our rug in the bathroom gets “wet” at least once a week. A holds it too long and then can’t get to the potty fast enough. A couple days ago she peed on her carpet in her bedroom. ARGH.

Gosh, it’s been a while since I had to answer those questions. That is quite funny though. I had better get ready to start answering them again soon. Good luck with your answers.
