Whenever I’m in the kitchen working, Jenny is by my side.
She pulls a stool up beside me and “helps” me cook and clean all day long.
While I was away at Blissdom, my husband captured a series of pictures of her cooking in her own kitchen.
You can see that she’s learned a lot being in the kitchen by her mommy’s side.
First she mixes up some food. Toy cars and a tomato in a paper cupcake liner make for a delicious meal!
Then she places her casserole in the oven.
Next up is the pressing of buttons on the oven.
And now it’s time to take it out!!
Yum!! The best meals are enjoyed with a cup of tea.
I used the pictures in this series to capture this memory in a scrapbook page. Cindy Schnieder’s layered template and Heather Roselli’s Lickin’ the Bowl kit worked perfectly for this!
I added a stroke to outline the chef’s hat element and made it into a digital sticker! I use this technique quite a bit in my scrapping.
I replaced many of the flower and button elements in the template with kitchen elements to fit the theme of this layout.
I love that the template included a folder tap for the date. I’ve started dating most of my layouts in some way. I know that this will help give a time reference to them when we’re browsing through scrapbook albums years down the road.
Here are the products I used in this layout:
Another lesson I learned at Blissdom was to embrace my passions and my hobbies.
I’m going to be sharing more scrapbook layouts and incorporating my scrapping and blogging. I want them to work together to make better use of my time. I am passionate about scrapbooking because our family memories should be preserved and cherished.
Having my little ones by my side in the kitchen is one of those memories that I want to cherish!
Do your little ones help you in the kitchen?
Oh, I also have to point out something that I noticed about these pictures while I was editing them. Of course, my husband took great care of our children while I was away, but sometimes dressing the baby is a difficult task for him.
While I was browsing through these something just didn’t look “right”. I wondered if Jenny has already grown out of this outfit…she shouldn’t have. Then as I was editing the last picture in this series I realized the problem…it was on backwards!! Those little pink buttons should have been in the front!
Too funny!!!!

I love seeing little kids playing with their kitchen! I tried having our kids’ kitchen next to my ‘real’ one, but that didn’t work for them. Plus, it’s hard to taste all their creations while I’m trying to cook, too!
On a side note, your husband’s small mistake might help us out! My daughter has been completely undressing and using her crib as a potty both before and/or after her naps. Why haven’t I thought of putting her pajamas on backwards? That would totally solve the problem! Thanks for the idea!

My husband is not allowed to dress my girls. Once he put my older daughter in black pants, a black turtleneck and black socks. I asked if she was going to go rob a bank.

That is such a cute page and sweet memories! My husband has problems w/ dressing Noah when I am out of town as well. In fact, I lay out all the clothes day by day now if I am going out of town so he doesn’t have to worry about matching things which he is NOT good at. 😉
