As many of you, Keith and I have read The Five Love Languages by Gary Chapman as a couple. We are very familiar with our own love languages and try to keep them in mind. Keith’s is words of affirmation and my own love language is time.
For years we have also tried to guess at the love languages of our children. Four years to be exact.
I’m not sure about Will’s love language just yet. But we have been pretty certain that MC’s is time and EA receives love through physical touch.
While Keith has been home, we’ve been able to observe them more and have had some affirmations that our speculations were correct. I’ve also been listening to the audiobook of The Five Love Languages for Children while walking on the treadmill.
MC has felt special as I have taken her with me on trips to the commissary, PX and post office alone while her Daddy is here. Spending time with her while running errands has meant a lot to her.
We laugh as EA sits by her Daddy at the table and plays footsie with him during our meals. She often touches our faces while we’re having conversations with her and is just always touching!
Last night EA’s love language was confirmed even more as she said this prayer before bed:
Dear Jesus
Thank you for my Mommy and my Daddy.
I love them so much.
They give me lots of hugs and kisses.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen
Make sure you’re observing your own children to see what their unique love language is so that you can love them in a language they understand.

How neat.
What a sweet little prayer. I am going to be such a sappy mother as just reading EA’s prayer made me want to cry, haha.
Bryan and I have this book, but haven’t read it yet. We each got a copy for Christmas. Maybe when he gets back we can read it together!
Hope you are enjoying your R & R. I cannot wait to hear all about it!

I did not know they had made a love language book for children. I have been keeping on eye on The Girl to see if I can figure out her love Language. I’m still not totally sure.
