We started a new family tradition last Friday that we’re labeling Friday Night Dinner. It’s a take on the traditional “Sunday Dinner” that families all over the South, especially where I grew up took part in. We have never really done big family dinners on Sundays because of not wanting to stress on a day that’s designed for rest and worship.
On Friday nights we’re going to have a traditional dinner with all the trimmings. We’ll say no to all outside obligations and spend a relaxed evening at home as a family. It’s a time set aside to slow down and enjoy being together as a family with good food and conversation.
I just decided on our entree for this Friday along with planning this week’s menu.
Here’s our menu for this coming week:
Sunday – leftovers
Monday – Pinto Beans & Cornbread Muffins
Tuesday – Oven Baked Spicy Chicken Tacos
Wednesday – Easy Crockpot Potato Soup
Thursday – Date Night!!! (the kids will have something easy)
Friday – Friday Night Dinner (meatloaf, mashed potato, corn, and a dessert)
Saturday – Grill Out
What’s on your menu for this week?
