During our time in Germany and especially during Keith’s deployment to Iraq, we saved as much as we could with one goal in mind….to get new furniture for our house when we made it back to the states!!!
The girls had been sleeping in toddler beds and we were sleeping and living on furniture that had been passed down to us from family.
While we appreciated it, we I was more than ready to get new furniture for our home. Our goal is to pay for expenses like that without going into debt. So, because of our savings we had that to look forward to upon our arrival in Virginia.
We went furniture shopping our first weekend here. We found furniture for the girls room (big girl beds), our bedroom, the dining room, and the living room at a great price….even a few thousand less than what we were planning to spend!!
And then we had to wait two weeks for it to be delivered.
The long wait was a bit of a disappointment to us, but we were able to make to with air mattresses and sleeping bags for the girls, a toddler bed for Will, and a box spring/mattress on the floor for Keith and I.
Our furniture for the bedrooms and dining room was delivered this morning and I am just so excited to have some rooms in our home finished and to not be sleeping on the floor any longer….this pregnant body can only take so much :)!
I’ve been busy all morning setting up bedding and cleaning….I promise to have pictures of my finished work soon.
I had to take a break.
Again, I’m blaming it on this pregnant body of mine.
It’s frustrating not to be able to do as much as I would like at one time.

Yay!!! I know you will sleep much better now! 🙂
By the way, I’m going to be at the Christian Women Bloggers Meet-Up during Blissdom. I saw that you were signed up to go too! I won’t be going to the conference, but since I live in the area I’m coming to the meet-up. Can’t wait to see you! 🙂

Praise God for that and giving you the wisdom and ability to save up the needed money!
I can’t imagine sleeping on a floor mattress while being pregnant. I’d be in a lot of pain due to joint issues! We take so much for granted here in America!

I remember sleeping on just a mattress before we moved to Germany while I was pregnant with Will — I’m SO GLAD to hear your new furniture has been delivered!!!
Great job for planning ahead and SAVING FOR the things you wanted instead of PAYING them OFF later!!! It’s not always easy, but it is certainly worth it!!!
PS. Remember to drink lots of water Mama! 🙂
