The girls were pretty excited about dressing up in their Halloween costumes this year. Elizabeth Anne dressed up as a bumble bee and Mary Catherine as a ladybug. I took them to a carnival on post this weekend and they had a blast. I planned to take them Trick or Treating for the first time tonight, but Elizabeth Anne has had a cold all week and was just starting to get over it, so I didn’t think it would be very wise to take her out walking in the cold weather. Mary Catherine also woke up from her nap throwing up…and that confirmed my decision to stay in. I called our babysitter and she was nice enough to run by the Commissary to pick up a few bags of candy for us.
I still wanted them to enjoy the night so after dinner I put them into their costumes and told them they could help me pass out candy to the people that came to our door. The time set for Trick or Treating on post was from 6-8 pm and we rushed to get them ready right before six.
Six o’clock came and went and nobody came to our door. We live on the second floor of a stairwell apartment building so, I turned on the light in the hallway to encourage visitors. But still there was no knock on our door. I even opened the door for a while but still no one showed up. Poor Elizabeth Anne and Mary Catherine were dancing around in their costumes just waiting to hand out the first piece of candy. I finally gave up and pulled step stools over to the window in the living room and let them stand on them to watch the trick or treaters walking around outside. This seemed to satisfy the girls. They kept saying “Look, Mommy, people…people walking.”
It never dawned on me that no one would be willing to walk up a flight of stairs to get some Halloween candy.

Oh, they SO cute! I’m so sorry they couldn’t go out and that no one came to the door. At least it satisfied them to watch other’s walking. And how fun they dressed in their costumes anyway! 🙂 I hope they are both feeling better soon!
I also wanted to thank you for delurking at “My Quiet Corner” in celebration of my 525. It was a blessing to have your presence known!

I’m so glad you stopped by. I’ve actually been reading your blog for quite some time now. I found it through the blog roll at CWO. I was just looking for some uplifting blogs by other Christian women to read and yours caught my attention. Isaiah 30:15 is also one of my life verses.
