As I mentioned earlier, I have been working on getting Jenny to sleep in her crib and take longer naps, with the ultimate goal being to self-soothe herself to sleep as well.
We have made huge strides towards those goals this week.
I am planning to share some things that have worked for us with you next week.
In the meantime, I’m going to tell you one thing that you should definitely NOT do when you’re working on getting your baby to take better naps.
And that is leave the cordless telephone in her room while she is napping!
Yesterday afternoon after answering a phone call, I rocked Jenny and then put her down for a nap in her crib, completely forgetting about the phone.
Thirty minutes later, I realized my huge mistake when the telephone began ringing very loudly, and I could not find it.
It rang five times before I could get upstairs to answer it in her room.
And of course, by that time Jenny was awake and screaming.
Yeah….big nap time fail.
Oh, and the phone call was Pizza Hut with a question about a pizza order that I didn’t place.
**Sorry I don’t have a picture of Jenny sleeping in her crib. I’m not brave enough to try that yet! This picture is old, but I can’t write about her without sharing her precious face with you.

I am looking forward to hearing what you did to get Jenny to nap. We struggled with nap time (and still do!). I am hoping to do better with baby #2!

Oh, no! I do that all the time!! You’d think that eventually, I’d learn. But two kids, and I’m still making the same mistakes. Can I still blame it on pregnancy fog??? 🙂 We did the 3 day sleep solution with Noah and by the end of the week he was sleeping through the night and taking two nice naps a day!!
