2024 will be my tenth year of selecting a word to guide and set my intentions for the upcoming year. This has become a cherished practice not only for goal setting at the beginning of the year, but also for getting my bearings and refocusing my priorities throughout the year. Each year I look forward to discovering what I will learn through the practice of selecting “one little word” for the year and coming back to that word again and again.
In keeping with my yearly practice of selecting “one little word” to guide the year ahead, I am so excited to share my 2024 One Little Word.
My One Little Word for 2024 is ENOUGH.
With this word as my guide, I want to embrace the knowledge that there is nothing that I need that I don’t already have in 2024.
I want to embrace knowing that
I am enough
I have enough
My faith in Christ is enough
& My family is enough.
It can be so easy to desire more.
It can be so easy to fill our lives with more…more things, more activities, more noise.
I want to resist that temptation this year with the realization that there is already enough. I don’t need to fill my life with more things because I already have all the things that I need. I don’t need to fill my life with more activities because I already have all the activities I need. I don’t need to fill my life with more noise because the quietude I have chosen for my life is enough.
I am at a point in my life where I have curated my interests and passions to the point that I know what works for me and I can embrace those interests and passions as enough.
I am also at the point where I am content with who I am–yes, there’s always room for growth. But contentment is so very important. I have found contentment in who I am and that is enough.
I am looking forward to fully embracing ENOUGH as my mantra for the year and seeing where what leads me in all aspects of my life–physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually.
