As we draw near to Christmas I thought I would share with you our plans for the upcoming days.
So often I’m sharing life after it happens, and that’s great memory keeping.
But I thought it would be fun for a change to share our anticipation at our upcoming Christmas plans.
Today my husband and I are taking our three oldest children out shopping to buy Christmas gifts for each other. It won’t cost more than $20 total (all shopping will take place at the Dollar Tree), but it is teaching them the spirit of gift giving. They really have giving hearts and I want to cultivate that.
We came up with a great plan to get this done as we were talking after lunch today.
My husband is taking MC to the dollar store during quiet time.
I’m taking Will on a shopping date after quiet time. I need to spend more time with my little boy. We’re going to stop by Sonic for a happy hour drink after he finishes shopping for his sisters.
EA and I are going shopping for her Christmas gifts and groceries tomorrow morning. She’s a huge help to me in the grocery store. I hand her the list and she checks it off as we place groceries in our cart.
This afternoon and tomorrow I’m going to do some Christmas baking with the girls. We’re making Christmas red velvet cupcakes, peanut butter fudge, Divinity fudge, and chocolate chip cookies for Santa.

Tomorrow night we have plans to enjoy some of our treats and hot chocolate while watching The Polar Express movie with the older children.
On Christmas Eve afternoon we’ll have a family party. I’m making out a menu of party foods which will include crock pot meatballs, a party tray of sausage, crackers, and cheese, chips & dip, and various other treats.
We’re going to the Candlelight Service at Ft. Lee on Christmas Eve evening.
When we return home from that the children will exchange their gifts and we will have some cookies and milk together before bed.
Some of you know that my husband is an Army chaplain. He is responsible for a chapel service for AIT soldiers. He is having a service on Christmas so that soldiers that were unable to go home for Christmas will have an opportunity to celebrate and worship. We’re all excited about attending this special Christmas service with him. We’ll have a quick breakfast of doughnuts before leaving.
When we return from the chapel service, we’ll enjoy brunch together. My menu is not complete yet, but I know we’ll be having a French Toast casserole.

The rest of our Christmas day will be a low-key family day. We’re going to chance into PJs or lounge wear after brunch and open presents together. For dinner, we’ll make sandwiches from Southern pulled pork barbecue cooked in the crock pot.

Of course, we’ll continue to keep our focus on celebrating the birth of Christ as we finish our Jesse Tree ornaments and devotions each night leading up to Christmas.

What fun!! Love how each child gets their own time with one of you….
How exciting to be a part of serving our military!! Our plans are busy ones, we have one family get together tonight, and then one Christmas Eve and then Christmas morning is my favorite time… both sets of grandparents are there to see our kids open presents and then we will have the famous Christmas breakfast….. eggs, biscuits, homemade sausage, bacon, gravy, hash brown casserole, etc!! This is my 14yr son’s favorite thing at Christmas ~ BREAKFAST~ and because he made such a big deal of how wonderful it is…told our friends (who are from TX with no family here) they just have to be there!! So they are coming to celebrate our family tradition with us!! (this will be the 19th year that we have had Christmas Breakfast!!! )

Sounds like wonderful plans. I also plan to take my two youngest children dollar store shopping for gifts! I still have shopping to finish, so hopeful I will accomplish that today. Tomorrow I will finish up my wrapping and prepare for a family gathering at my sister’s that evening. Sunday morning, I will be up at 6:30a to get the cinnamon rolls and cheesy hashbrown casarole in the oven. Then we will open gifts and head out to church. Merry Christmas my friend!
