My sweet little boy…”little Will” turned five today.
He is growing up right before my eyes.
Five…I ask myself, “How can it be?”
It seems like just yesterday we welcomed him into our family.
And today we celebrated five years with him…super hero style!
For the second time ever since being a mom, I knew my personal limits and ordered a bakery cake for his birthday.
With preparing for a move, I didn’t have it in me to pull out a homemade cake.
And you know what??
This sweet little boy was thrilled with his Spiderman cake from Kroger.
He was thrilled because it’s not about the cake. {Even through this was a pretty cool one}
No, it’s not about the cake.
Nor is it about the presents, even though they were thoroughly enjoyed as well.
This day is about celebrating Will.
It’s about focusing attention on him.
It’s about letting this little boy know that his family loves and cherishes him.
Not just today, but everyday.
This morning tears rose to the surface of my eyes and threatened to overflow as I looked into the eyes of this little one and said, “I can’t believe my baby is five today!”
He looked back at me and responded so seriously, “I am NOT a baby!”.
No, I guess he’s not…not really.
But in so many ways…Yes, he is.
He is and he will always be my baby.

My baby will be 5 in July. Can’t believe it. I’ve always done storebought cakes. I usually make the invitations and make favors so I give myself a break on that. Plus they usually match whatever theme I am doing! And the kids don’t care, its all about the icing for most of them 🙂

Oh yes… he may not think so…but he will always be your baby! My boys are 15 & 7 and even though one is a head taller than me, and the other is close to seeing me eye to eye…… they are still my baby boys!!!
